A squaring of Handel’s circle. Yet the mind needed to catch its breath for the drama to show its true colours. In other words, let there be music! Damien Guillon, at the head of the fourteen musicians making up the Banquet Céleste, was required to display a high level of meticulousness. Not only did he do well in that regard, he conducted in a firm yet delightfully and contagiously refined manner – fitting in perfectly with the staging. With his added touch of fantasy, he lifted us up during extremely emotional times. Such a result can only be the fruit of relentless discipline, cleverly covered up by smooth harmonies and crystal-clear rhythms. Handel is nothing but consistent with these facts, making him so difficult to interpret.”  Roland Duclos
